Joanne May passed away peacefully in her 95th year with her loving family around her to help her transition into her next journey. She is our very special Angel that fills our hearts with love.

Joanne was a dedicated and loving wife to a Earl May for 56 years before he passed in 2006.

She was a loving, devoted, caring and most wonderful mother to Dean(Diane),Shawn(Marylin),Terry(deceased), Sheila, Bob, Jeff(deceased)(Penny), Mari-Beth(Dave)

The best grandma, seamstress and baker of cookies and pies for Ashley, Scott, Caila, Dustin, Cody, Lily, Taylor, Breeann, Kevin; plus four great-grandchildren.

A loving sister and sports enthusiast to Marie, Dean, Claire. A loving sister -in-law and card player to Barb, Ross and Pat. A very special Aunt to many nieces and nephews from the Cruikshank, Mollan, O’Sullivan and Kenyeres families. A compassionate foster mom to a many children.

She accomplished numerous things in her life, plus contributed many hours of endless volunteer work. She was a member of the CWL group for 80 years and in that time she was Treasurer, Fundraiser Coordinator, and President.

For 8 years, she was convener for Rosedale Ringette. She was involved in Rosedale baseball for 60 years. Here, she coached children aged 7-17 and was Treasurer and Scorekeeper for the women’s league. Known as Mom or Grandma to everyone, Joanne played baseball until the age of 65.

Mom was also involved in the Rosedale Seniors group where she loved to play bridge. Mom was a kind and generous neighbour to many. Her garden has always been a spectacle worth keeping a diary of.
She has lived in the Rosedale area for 70 yrs.


Mass will be at Saint Eugenes Church at 3:30 on May 26, 2022.

Celebration of Life will be held downstairs at the Columbus Club of Hamilton (Knights of Columbus hall) at 222 Queenston Rd. Hamilton from 4:30 to 8 pm on Thursday, May 26, 2022. A buffet will be served with a cash bar and memories shared.
***PLEASE WEAR your favourite Team Canada, Ti-Cat, Blue Jays, Raptors, Maple Leafs, or Rosedale baseball jersey in her honour***

The internment will be held on Friday, May 27th at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Angels cemetery; 681 Mud St E. Stoney Creek.
