Bill R. Busby Obituary

Veteran Billy Roy Busby, age 78, passed away at his home in Midland, Texas, on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022.

 

Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 16, 2022, at the Golf Course Road Church of Christ in Midland, Texas. Tim Baugh will be officiating.

 

Bill was born in Goose Creek, Texas, to Lester Earl Busby and Dorothy Mae Moody, August 3,1943. Bill graduated from Odessa High School in 1961 and later from North Texas University in Denton, with bachelor’s degree in accounting.

 

He served in the United States Army in the Vietnam Conflict from August,1967, to October,1968, where he was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

 

He worked as a Certified Public Accountant for several local companies including Magnatex Corporation, HuFo Oil Company, and Moore Minerals.

 

He was a lifelong volunteer in the community with most of his retirement years spent volunteering with the Texas Sized Garage Sale for Meals on Wheels in Midland.

 

He enjoyed travel, walking, card games, Farkle and family time. Over the course of 9 years, he drove his wife and grandchildren to more than 30 National Parks and Monuments across the United States.

 

Bill is survived by his wife, Alice Busby; son, James Busby and wife Wendy of Midland, Texas; and daughter, Christy Bustillos and husband Dan of Lynwood, Washington; and grandchildren, Elan and Olivia Bustillos.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Senior Life Midland’s Texas Sized Garage Sale.
