It is with deep sadness that the family of Edna May Margaret Westhorpe (nee Goodchild) announces her passing on May 10, 2022 at the Dr. Gendreau PCH in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba at the age of 98.  Edna was born on November 12, 1923 in Lonely Lake, Manitoba to George and Ida Goodchild.  She grew up in rural Saskatchewan near Oxbow with seven brothers and sisters.  Edna joined the Royal Canadian Airforce during World War II and was stationed primarily in Ontario.  She made many good friends there and was very proud of being a Veteran.

Edna married Roy Westhorpe on June 25, 1947.  Edna and Roy spent their married life on their cattle ranch in Moore Dale, Manitoba where they raised their family.  When Roy passed away in 1981, Edna and her two youngest daughters moved to Ste. Rose.

Edna was a very independent person and lived on her own until the fall of 2019 when she moved into the Dr. Gendreau PCH.  She was always busy knitting, crocheting or sewing until her eyesight failed her.  She also enjoyed building things and loved a challenging project.  Edna also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She had special toys for when they came to visit.

Edna was predeceased by her parents, her husband Roy and their infant son Ernest.  She leaves to mourn her daughters and son-in-law Joy Sigurdson, Donna Johnson, Peggy Westhorpe, Kathy Westhorpe (Albert Kischook), Kim Westhorpe; grandchildren Morgan Sigurdson, Colin Johnson, Anissa Olafson (Carl), Corey Johnson (Launa), William Kruse (Kristy), Rory Westhorpe, Evan Kruse (Kelly), Danica Reid, Caitlin Westhorpe; great grandchildren Wyatt, Tieran, Avery, Logan, Kaleigh, Charli, Jase, Codi,  Jensen; her sister Myrtle Walterson and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Dr. Gendreau PCH for the care and compassion shown to Edna during her time there.

Should friends so desire, please consider remembering Edna with a donation to the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home in Ste Rose du Lac.
