Raymond “Ray” Roeder Raymond Roeder was born on June 16, 1935 to parents John and Olga Roeder in Odessa, Minnesota. Raymond attended rural country school in Ortonville. He passed a way on May 10, 2022 in Longview. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Lakeview Baptist Church in Ore City at 11:00 AM. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. On March 30, 1953, Ray enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Japan and Guam. He was honorably discharged on March 30, 1957. On November 25, 1957, Ray re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and stayed another sixteen years, retiring at Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, Nevada on the 1st day of December, 1973. Ray served his country at many different locations throughout his military career, serving in the Atlantic Theater in Germany, Spain and France. After serving in France, Ray went back to the Pacific Theater, serving in Thailand and Vietnam. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Ore City. Ray was a life member of D.A.V in Gilmer. He retired from Upshur County Court House as Maintenance Director for county buildings on December 31st, 2002. Ray is survived by his wife, Kaye Roeder of Ore City, son and daughter-in-law: Lyle and Debbie Potter, granddaughter: Jessica Powell and husband Kevin, grandson: Trey Potter and wife Cammie and great-grandchildren: Reed and Lane. He was preceded in death by his daughter Donna Jo Roeder, brothers: Vernon Roeder, John Roeder, Edwin Roeder and Alfred Roeder, sisters: Deloris Oden, Lucille Thompson, Laverne Plants and Marcia Vick.
