James Wallace Hoover, Jr.

<p>James Wallace Hoover, Jr., 79, of Spartanburg, SC died Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Summit Hills Assisted Living. Born June 18, 1942 in Chester, SC, he was the son of the late James W. Hoover, Sr. and Della Weems Lawing and the husband of the late Elizabeth Floyd Hoover.</p> <p>Mr. Hoover was retired from Draper Corporation, where he was a Tool Design Engineer, after 33 years of service. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.</p> <p>Survivors include his daughters, Lynne Tate (Tim) of McCormick, SC, Terri Ridings (Bernard) of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Jami Smith of Boiling Springs, SC, eight grandchildren, Ashley Tate, Lindsey Tate, Caleb Hoover, Coleman Smith, Stephen Smith, Jacob Ridings, Kaitlyn Ridings, and Jered Ridings, and four great grandchildren, and his sister, Jean Carter of Chester, SC. He was also predeceased by a son-in-law, William Stephen Smith, Sr.</p> <p>A Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Friday, May 13, 2022 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Jack Dodds. Visitation will follow at the graveside.</p> <p>The family would like to give a special Thank You to the staff of Summit Hills and Interim Hospice for the Kindness and Love shown to our Daddy.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.</p> <p>Floyd&rsquo;s North Church Street Chapel</p>
