Judith Elaine Baker Obituary

Judith Elaine Davis Baker, 77 of Burlington, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 6th, 2022 at her home in Burlington surrounded by her children. Born, April 25, 1945 in Graham, NC, she was the daughter of the late Harold Minter Davis and Doris Louise Brewer Davis. She graduated from Southern Alamance High School in 1963.

Judi enjoyed a long and illustrious career working in the newspaper industry. She retired from the Burlington Times News after 30+ years of service in the Real Estate Account Department. During her tenure she was a member of the American Business Women’s Association and the Homebuilders Association, where she served on the board and received many awards throughout her tenure period. She also received numerous awards from the NC Press Association. She worked tirelessly on many events including The Time News Spelling Bee, the Times News Awards for Excellence, the Annual Chili Cook Off, the Mega Purse Sale Fundraiser for Literacy, several Red Cross Fundraisers and many others.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Harold Thomas Baker (Sarah) of Lexington, SC. Daughter Lisa Baker Clark (Bill) of Salisbury, NC., Grandchildren Lauren Baker Collins (Jay) of Greenville, TN, William Thomas Clark, Joseph Luke Clark, Caroline Louise Clark of Salisbury, NC. Jeremy Daniel Ray Granger and Jacob Steven Granger of Lexington, SC. Great-Granddaughter Leigha Joyce Collins of Greenville, TN. Her cherished siblings, sister Jan Davis Rudisill of Burlington and brother Harold Kenneth Davis (Janna) of Mebane. Her loving aunts Mildred Brewer Blalock, Martha Brewer Cobb, Kay Brewer Reynolds, Faye Brewer Isley. And many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Many thanks to the staff at AuthoraCare Collective (Hospice) of Burlington for their dedicated care and attention to Judi during her final days. The family also appreciates the constant support, dedication, and assistance of Sherry Puckett. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice (authoracare.org).

Judi spent many years traveling, successfully completing 14 cruises and countless trips to the mountains and the coast. She also enjoyed weekly card games with the “Golden Girls”, and she relished in UNC basketball. However, her greatest passion was spending time with her grandchildren, making bi-weekly trips across the state visiting them at their respective universities, shopping for hours for that perfect birthday request, and FaceTiming her smallest so as not to miss a milestone, Judi loved every second she spend with them and was not shy about bragging.
