Juanita Gray Scott Obituary

Juanita Gray Scott was born December 8, 1933 in Moultrie, GA to the late Hallie (Momma Gray) and J.B. Gray. She was the fifth of six children. Juanita attended Escambia County Public Schools of Pensacola. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Alabama State College (University), Montgomery, AL and a Master’s Degree from Troy State University, Pensacola, FL. She began her teaching career in 1959 at Ransom High School, Cantonment, FL, followed by John A. Gibson and Hallmark Elementary School, Pensacola, FL. Juanita was a Guidance Councilor at Golden Elementary School, Pensacola, FL. until her retirement in 1990. Juanita was a loving and faithful member at Mount Zion Baptist Church serving in various leadership rolls from 1982 until her departure. She was also an active and dedicated member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority from 1977 till sunset. She attended the senior citizen program at Cobb Recreational Center for many years. Juanita was married to the late Thomas Jefferson Scott. She was a beautiful and loving mother to two sons, Cedric L. Alexander whose father was the late Will E. Alexander and Richard J. Wilson II, whose father is Richard Wilson, Sr. Beautiful memories remains in the hearts of her loving sons, Cedric and Rick (Lydia), her precious sister Odessa Gray Gipson, three grandchildren Adrienne Alexander, Brett (Michelle) Wilson, Hanna Wilson and two great-grandsons Evan and Andrew Wilson. Also, she leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as, many friends. The love she gave will be long remembered by all. She was predeceased by four siblings Gwendolyn Gray Simpkins, Godfrey Gray, Carlton Gray and Jimmy Gray.
