Estelle Spector, aged 91, passed away quietly at her home on May 7, 2022. She is survived by her children Lea Temkin, Mia Cohen (Terry), J.B. (Martha Ring), Julie, and Ari; her grandchildren Matt Temkin (Eve), Dan Temkin (Keri), Erinn Cohen (Max), and Ross Cohen (Ilona), Caitlynn Spector, and Adam Spector; and two great-grandchildren Charlie Temkin and Della Temkin. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, former Chicago Symphony Orchestra violinist Fred Spector.<br><br>Estelle was by turns a performer, choreographer, director, producer, and teacher. Her professional career lasted over 60 years. She retired from the faculty at Columbia College Chicago in 2010 at the age of 80. She directed and/or choreographed many plays and musicals in Chicagoland and across the country. Her list of credits is extensive. She was a long-serving member of Chicago's Joseph Jefferson Awards Committee and a passionate supporter of Chicago Theater. She was an active member of The Village Chicago and co-produced the entertainment for the group's annual fundraisers for more than a decade.<br><br>Her family will hold a private service that will be live-streamed on Estelle’s page at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Shiva information is also located on the website.
