Honoring and Remembering the life of Rosa Ilene Haynes

WATERBURY – Rosa Irene Haynes age 82 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on May 6th, 2022, at the Beacon Brook Health Care Center in Naugatuck.

Rosa was born on November 23, 1939, in Gatesville, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Malachi and Irene (Ferguson) Freeman. She was raised in North Carolina and moved to Connecticut in her early 20s, where she attended Mattatuck Community College and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Central Connecticut State University. Rosa spent many years working as an RN at Saint Mary’s Hospital. Rose lived a blessed life and was always there to help her family. She loved to travel and was a long-time member of Zion Baptist Church in Waterbury.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her children; Jeffrey Haynes of Waterbury and April Valeta Hightower of Waterbury. She also leaves her brothers; Norfleet G. Freeman of San Diego, Thomas E. Freeman of Waterbury, and Richie D. Freeman of Waterbury. Rosa was blessed with seven grandchildren, Shante, Kevin Jr. Kyle, Jannelle, Jada, Savannah, and Alana, as well as five great-grandchildren and also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Jason Haynes and her brothers; Malachi Jr and Ulysses Grant Freeman.

Funeral Services for Ms. Haynes will be held on Tuesday, May 17th, 2022, at Zion Baptist Church 137 Pearl St, Waterbury, CT 06704. A viewing of Ms. Haynes will occur in the church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00.
