Jack R. Marx

Jack R. Marx, age 88, passed away May 7, 2022 in Council Bluffs. Jack was born on July 12, 1933 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Harvey and Fern (Rodman) Marx. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1951. Jack proudly served his country in the US Army for two years during the Korean War and upon returning home married Bonnie (Smiley) on June 19, 1955. Jack served the United States Postal Service for 35 years retiring as a Postal Clerk and belonged to the Methodist Faith. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Fern Marx; granddaughter, Emily; son-in-law, Allen D. Gardner; mother and father-in-law, Rozella and Bob Kernan. Survivors include wife of almost 67 years, Bonnie; daughters, Jeri Ann Gardner all Council Bluffs, Suzi Heim (Paul), Lee’s Summit, MO; granddaughter, Katherine Brethower (Stu) Olathe, KS; sisters-in-law, Karen Idoux (Jim), Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Tonchita Mass, Andrea Underwood (Jerry) all Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation Wednesday 6:00pm to 8:00pm at funeral home. Graveside services Thursday 11:00am at Cedar Lawn Cemetery with a luncheon at the Walnut Hill Reception Center. Family and friends to meet at 10:30am at funeral home for cortege to Cedar Lawn. Memorials to Council Bluffs Public Library.
