William Dallas Noah, Jr Obituary

Well done, good and faithful servant. William Dallas Noah Jr., 87, passed away peacefully at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by his adoring family. Bill was born in Burlington, NC on October 30, 1934, to William Dallas Noah and Helen Linn Noah of Landis, NC. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Elizabeth (Libby) Noah, his two children, Billy Noah (Marsi) and Margery Brown (Andy), and five grandchildren, Zachary Noah (Jennifer), LeWynn Wetteroff (Travis), Bailey Brown (Wil), Hannah Newsome, Alleigh Carollo (Carter), and one great-grandson William Vincent Noah – all who lovingly called him Pop Pop. Bill graduated from Landis High School as an Eagle Scout and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, remaining a lifelong Tar Heel fan. Upon graduation, he went to work for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company until he retired after 34 years as a Sales Executive. He also served as a board member for Piedmont Opera. After retiring from R.J. Reynolds, he was Vice President for Dean Witter for 10 years. Outside of work you could find Bill on the golf course with his Tuesday-Thursday group or curled up with a good book listening to opera. As a longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Bill led bible study and assisted as an Usher. His faith was unwavering and at the core of everything he did. Bill’s passion for learning led him on many adventures with his favorite travel companion, Libby. From attending the live performance of the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany to exploring the beaches of Normandy with his family, Bill never missed a chance to immerse himself in the history and culture. But his favorite destination was Sunset Beach, NC, rocking on the porch with a scotch and cigar in hand. Above all, Bill loved spending time with his family. Bill’s celebration of life will be held on Thursday, May 12th at 3 pm at Centenary United Methodist Church followed by a reception at Forsyth Country Club. A tribute can be made in Bill’s honor to the Music Program at Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem, NC or the William Ray Newsome Neonatology Fund, Novant Health Foundation, 1701 S. Hawthorne Road, 27103, in honor of his late grandson Will.
