Felix P. Rampino

Felix (Phil) Rampino, born on February 9, 1926, was called home by our Lord on May 5, 2022. A span of 96 years.

One of the last “comments” he had made was that “he wished he were 90 again!”

And that is how he lived his life. Age was just a number to him. Phil lived independently in Toms River until the end of his days and was still driving to his local, favorite stores where he picked-up items for one of his favorite things to do – cooking, which he was quite good at.

Born in Buffalo, NY and raised in the Bronx, NY, Phil came of age during the difficult days of the depression. He joined the Army in WWII serving in the Army Air Force as a ball turret gunner. Phil was deployed to Berlin during the occupation after the European theatre ended helping the citizen survivors of Germany. He faced all of lifes challenges and jumping from airplanes was just another task to be completed. Phil worked for the Highway Department of the City of New York for 40 years, laying blacktop in the summer and shoveling snow from around fire hydrants in the winter.

Upon his return from his army duty, he married Frances Campanella, who predeceased him on June 26, 1969. Phil and Frances had three children, Joseph, John and Mary. Phil was most proud of and loved to cook for and spend time with his grandchildren, Michael (Joy), Francesca (John), Vanessa (Jesse), and Melissa (Nick) who miss their grandfather greatly. Phil was overjoyed by the birth of his great-grandchildren, Jakob, James Michael and James Paul.

But his life was never about him. Phil was a caring individual whose primary concern was the care and welfare of his family including his sisters Carmella and Philomena, both of whom predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his Brother Joseph (Junior) and is survived by his brother Pat (Edith).

Those who knew Phil will miss his smile and good nature.

One who served as a model for those who have came to know him.
