Erich T. Barnes
<p><br /> Erich T. Barnes, 86 passed away peacefully Friday, April 29, 2022 in Hastings on Hudson NY., with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Elkhart Indiana on July 4, 1935; The son of the late Sylvester and Lura Mae Barnes. <br /> Erich graduated Elkhart High School in the class of 1954. He received his Bachelors degree from Purdue University in 1958.<br /> He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 1958 then traded to the New York Giants in 1961. He was traded to the Cleveland Browns in 1965 where he retired at the end of the season in 1971.<br /> His surviving family members include; his wife Violet from Yonkers, New York, three daughters Charissa, (Michael) Johnson from Rochester, New York, Djuna Barnes from Jersey City, New Jersey, Tessa (Dennis) Robinson from Elkhart, Indiana. Two sisters; Joan Murkey from Chicago, Illinois and Linda (Clifton)Turner from Flint, Michigan. Three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters. <br /> Funeral services will be held on May 14, 2022 from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery, Illinois.
