Frances M. Samsel

<p>Frances &ldquo;Pookie&rdquo; M. Samsel, age 63, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2022, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer&rsquo;s disease, in Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, with her loving family by her side. Frances was born on September 6, 1958 in Bridgeport and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances E. Samsel. She worked for SNET/AT&amp;T after graduating college until her retirement in April 2013.&nbsp; Pookie&rsquo;s greatest passions were baking and spending time with her cherished family.&nbsp; Friday Night pizza gatherings were her favorite! &nbsp;And she especially enjoyed hosting her extended family on Christmas and Easter.&nbsp; She also cherished our multiple Slovak and Polish holiday traditions.&nbsp; She was very devoted to her lifelong parish, Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church in Bridgeport including holding leadership positions in the Sodality and Ladies Guild.&nbsp; She is survived by her loving sister Kristine G. Samsel and Aurora Joaquim of Huntington, many beloved cousins, cousin in laws, nieces and nephews, godchildren, and aunts and uncles.&nbsp; She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Frances E Samsel. &nbsp;Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 8:30 AM in the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford and at 9:30 AM in Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, 79 Church Street, Bridgeport where a Requiem Low Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Canon Stein. &nbsp;Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home on Monday, May 2, 2022 from 4:00 &ndash; 7:00 PM. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank all of her very special caregivers as well as her multiple care providers at the Institute of Neurodegenerative Disease in New Haven CT, Bridgeport Hospital, and Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stratford CT.&nbsp;</p>

I graduated with Fran from St Joes. She was the kindest! I saw her at our ten year reunion and was happy to catch up. My prayers go to all of you. She was taken too soon. God definitely gained a special angel.
