<p>Richard Sneed, 89, of Burlington passed away at his residence on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.<br /> <br /> A native of Perry, NY, he was the husband of Eva Sneed, who survives and the son of Richard Clyde Sneed, Sr. and Irene Elizabeth Martin Sneed, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving as a CBR Specialist during the Korean Conflict. He always wanted to attend a military academy but was sent to Korea, Iwo Jima, and CBR School in Japan. Mr. Sneed graduated from Elon College and was a computer specialist for Western Electric and later AT&amp;T. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW in Gibsonville, and the Elon College Exchange Club. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elon.<br /> <br /> In addition to his wife of their home, survivors include two sisters-in-law, JoAnn Whitesell and husband Jack and Peggy Cooper; niece, Jan Whitesell; and nephew, Jeffrey Sneed Whitesell. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellington, brother, Raymond Thomas Sneed; and mother-in-law, Mamie Brannock.<br /> <br /> A memorial service will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church of Elon on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. David Franks and Rev. Kellie Gallagher with the family receiving friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at St. Mark&rsquo;s Church Cemetery.<br /> <br /> In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gibsonville VFW, 432 Boonwood-Timbergate Drive, Gibsonville, NC 27249 or the First United Methodist Church of Elon, 1630 Westbrook Avenue, Elon, NC 27244.</p>

Richard Sneed, 89, of Burlington passed away at his residence on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

A native of Perry, NY, he was the husband of Eva Sneed, who survives and the son of Richard Clyde Sneed, Sr. and Irene Elizabeth Martin Sneed, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S.
