Janet Elizabeth Davis

Janet Elizabeth Davis, 88, passed away on April 22 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. A native, lifelong resident of Eldorado, Janet was born on December 23, 1933, to the late Kenneth and LaHoma (Warford) Trigg. On December 20, 1974, she married Donald Davis, who preceded her in death in 2008. She is survived by a daughter, Beth Tierney, Lake Park, Florida; son Robert Tierney, Mount Vernon, Illinois; son Dirk (Linda) Tierney, Suwanee, Georgia; son Josh (Darci) Davis; and grandsons Kyle Davis, 17, and Quinn Davis, 14, of Wellington, Florida. Janet loved her family, church, and community, and she devoted many hours over her lifetime supporting various civic organizations. She served as president and vice president of the Saline County - Eldorado Board; was a member of the Eldorado Memorial Library Board of Trustees for 25 years; was a member of the Lindale Cemetery Board of Trustees; and was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority for many years. She and Don co-owned the Food Center for 20 years and later owned and operated The Deli in downtown Eldorado for several years. Janet served as president of the Chamber of Commerce and on the Project BOUNCE Board in support of downtown businesses. Janet was an avid sports fan who loved golf, especially any tournament Tiger Woods was playing in, and cheered on the Eldorado Eagles her entire life. She was one of the original – and continuous - chair seat ticket holders at the Duff-Kingston Gym, and she especially loved the Eldorado Holiday Tournament. She was a member of Star Church in Eldorado, where she also worked as a secretary and a greeter for 14 years and was an active member of the church’s Clothes Closet and was a Vacation Bible School volunteer. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, April 28, at Star Church, followed by funeral services at noon with the Rev. Aaron Phelps officiating. Burial will be held in Lindale Cemetery.
