Obituary

It is with deepest sorrow that the family of Cecile Victoria Marie Espe announces her passing in Fort St. John, on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at the age of 79 years.

Cecile was born to Leo and Rolande Martel in the Qu'Appelle Valley in Saskatchewan on September 29, 1942.  The family later moved to Redvers, SK and she went to school there.  Cecile set out in the mid sixties and spent a simmer working in Banff at the Banff Springs Hotel as an elevator operator.  That fall, she moved to Fort St. John and starting working at Al's News.  She stayed and later worked for the department of highways.  After a long courtship with Thor, they married in 1977 and had one daughter, Monique, in 1979.  Cecile enjoyed being a homemaker and spent 10 winters in Yuma, Arizona.  She was overjoyed to become a Grandma in 2010 and again in 2012, and loved spending time with her granddaughters.  Cecile was very kind and thoughtful, and was a cherished Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend.

Cecile will be forever remembered and love by her husband Thor; daughter Monique and son-in-law Poul Hansen; granddaughters Rachel and Erika; brothers Elie (Jenny) Martel and Henry (Caroline) Martel; sisters Janette (Pat) Martel, Irene Rumbold and Jeannine Martel; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Cecile was predeceased by her parents Leo and Rolande Martel; nephews Jeff Martel and Trevor Steininger; niece Tara Giesbrecht; brother-in-law Hans Espe; and sister-in-law Kay Espe.

Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of life get together will be held in July in Fort St. John, BC.  Location and date to be determined.
