REMEMBERING AND HONORING THE LIFE OF EDWARD WOMELSDORF

OAKVILLE – Mr. Edward Cavill Womelsdorf, age 95, of Oakville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Waterbury Hospital on April 21, 2022. He was the widower of Marie (Fusco) Womelsdorf to whom he was married for 65 years.

Edward was born on February 6, 1927, in Newport, PA, the son of the late Raymond and Thelma (Cavill) Womelsdorf. Edward grew up and was educated in Newport, PA, and proudly served with the US Navy during World War II. Edward spent many years working as a machine tool repair specialist at Anchor Fasner in Waterbury. Edward was a long-time member of the American Legion Post 195 in Oakville. He enjoyed flying private planes in the 60s, fishing, boating, riding his motorcycle, playing in setback tournaments, and being a jack of all trades.

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his son, Edward Womelsdorf, and his wife, Carol of Oakville, and his daughter, Jeanne (Womelsdorf) Raper and her husband Bobby of Uxbridge, MA. He also leaves his grandchildren; Noah Malgeri (Rachel) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Katherine Martinka (Steven) of Whitinsville, MA, and Susanne Fyfe (Corey) of Waltham, MA, in addition to his four great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, Marie of 65 years, he is predeceased by his brothers; Raymond, Ronald, and sister, Joan.


A Graveside Committal Service with full military honors will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery at a date and time to be announced. There are no calling hours.
