Rhonda Johnson

   Rhonda Rains Johnson, 62 of the Browning Acres Community of Harlan passed away Sunday evening of April 17, 2022 at the UK Bluegrass Hospice Center in Lexington, KY following a courageous battle with cancer.
   Rhonda was born March 16, 1960 in Jellico, TN to Mary Evelyn Hubbard Rains and the Late Ronald M. Rains. She was a graduate of Harlan High School. She was retired from the Harlan Co Board of Education with over 30 years of teaching Special Education at Hall School and JACES. She was a member of the Harlan Baptist Church and loved animals especially her 2 babies, "Spike" and "Spanky"
    Besides her father, she is preceded in death by her grandparents, Gus and Dorothy Rains, Eulis and Martha Hubbard.
    She is survived by her beloved mother, Mary Evelyn Rains; her son, Matthew Johnson; brother, Gary (Rose) Rains; she leaves a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other family and many friends to mourn her passing. 
    Visitation will be 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday (April 21) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
    Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Haywood and Rev. Jon Dickenson officiating. 
    Burial will be private at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Pleasant View (Whitley Co.) KY
    In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to the Harlan Baptist Church (Building Restoration Fund) PO Box 883, Harlan, KY 40831 in memory of Rhonda.
