<p>Michael Dale Ketcherside, 73, passed away April 13, 2022 at his Royse City, TX home surrounded by his family.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Mike was born July 16, 1948 to Paul Slater and Jeanne Florene Ketcherside in Topeka, KS. He was raised in Nowata, OK and graduated from Nowata High School in 1966. After high school, Mike served in the United States Air Force in Vietnam, loading bombs on B-52s.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Mike&rsquo;s greatest joy was his family. He married the love of his life, his wife Laverne, on December 19, 1987. They enjoyed time with their children, Bobby, Mike Jr, and Lori.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>As an employee of GTE, later Verizon, Mike enjoyed a successful career in various management positions. After retirement, he spent his time playing golf and growing a garden, giving vegetables away to friends, family, and the church food bank.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Mike was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Royse City. He also enjoyed membership in the VFW in Quinlan, TX.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Mike is survived by wife Laverne Ketcherside of Royse City, TX, sons Bobby Ketcherside of Bartlesville, OK and Michael Dale Ketcherside Jr (Ashley) of Ft. Worth, TX, and daughter Lori Smith (Jason) of Jenks, OK. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren Avery Smith, Abigail Ketcherside, Emma Ketcherside, Nate Smith, Aubrey Ketcherside, Michael Dale Ketcherside III, and Kyle Ketcherside.&nbsp; Mike was also survived by siblings Sonya Essman of Topeka, KS, Paul E Ketcherside (Suzie) of Newalla, OK, Jeanne Rodriguez (Roger) of Coweta, OK, and Debbie Boatman (Jim) of Houston, TX.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his father Paul Ketcherside, mother Florene Ketcherside, and sisters Victoria Dennison and Kaye Little.&nbsp;</p> <p>A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Nowata Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service. Michael Dale Ketcherside, 73, passed away April 13, 2022 at his Royse City, TX home surrounded by his family. 

 

Mike was born July 16, 1948 to Paul Slater and Jeanne Florene Ketcherside in Topeka, KS. He was raised in Nowata, OK and graduated from Nowata High School in 1966. After high school, Mike served in the United States Air Force in Vietnam, loading bombs on B-52s.
