<p><strong><span style="font-size:24px;">Paul Rodgers Kerns, age 85 of Troy, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Ohio&rsquo;s Hospice of Miami Valley, Troy. He was born June 24, 1936 in Piqua to the late Newell M. and May (Covault) Kerns.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:24px;">Those left to cherish Paul&rsquo;s memory include his wife Delores (Clawson) Kerns; son Mark Kerns (Tonya) of Middletown; grandchildren: Abbie Markey (Pastor Tom), Aaron Kerns (Jessica), Alex Kerns (Paige), and Ally Summerlin (Sam); great-grandchildren: Ella, Eden, Easton, Ezra, Ryder, Riley, Remi, and Kemper; as well as sister Jetta Hudson Norris of Sidney.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:24px;">He was preceded in death by his sister Martha Howell.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:24px;">Paul was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Piqua and a graduate of Miami Central High School. He loved to play cards and hosted the Euchre games at the American Legion Post #43 in Troy. He was a lover of animals, his favorite being his Golden Retriever, Olivia.&nbsp; He was a big fan of the OSU Buckeyes, the Bengals, and the Reds. Paul had a green thumb and even received the title of Master Gardener from a course at Ohio State. He enjoyed his yard work and was big into landscaping. He had a passion for farming and was able to buy the family farm, of 110 acres, from his dad. Farming had an impact on Paul&rsquo;s collection of miniature John Deere tractors. Paul enjoyed his trips to Florida in the winter and camping. He was a restaurant enthusiast who loved trying new places with his wife. Paul also coached little league baseball. He had worked for the former Wood Shovel and Tool Company in Piqua and also for Hobart Brothers as a clerk. Paul retired from UPS in Dayton where he worked at the reception counter.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:24px;">Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be given to your local American Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home.&nbsp;</span></strong></p>
