Florence Demo

Florence Demo, age 91 of Henning, Minnesota passed away peacefully at her home on April 13, 2022. 

Florence was born on March 17, 1931 in Benson, Minnesota to Adolf and Gretchen Staack. She attended the Benson School District and was baptized at St. Mark’s Church.

She grew up in Benson where she met and married Merlin Demo on January 24, 1949. From this union they were blessed with 5 daughters: Judy, Barbara, Susan, Debra, and Kathy; and 3 sons: Sonny, Dennis and Jerry Merlin. They soon relocated to Minneapolis, finding work as a construction worker and later worked on the railroad. Florence worked as a machine operator, putting in 35 years at Schaper Manufacturing.

Florence retired to enjoy traveling, fishing and camping. She spent many years fishing the St. Croix River. The best times of her life were spent with family and friends on the river.  Florence was an avid reader, she loved to take walks with her beloved dog, Turp and her specialty was baking angel food cakes. She lived a simple life and enjoyed all her grandchildren.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; Adolf and Gretchen Staack,husband Merlin; brothers: Adolf, Jr., Arnie, and LeRoy; sister: Lavonne; daughters: Judy, Debra, and Kathy; sons: baby Jerry Merlin, and Sonny Demo; grandchildren: Audra McNeil, and Florisse Demo; and great-grandchild: Tristan Laurent.

Florence is survived by her daughters: Barbara (Clyde) Laurent of Henning; and Susan Perez of Crystal; son: Dennis of Lake City; brother: Richard (Nancy) Staack of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; brothers-in-law: Charles Demo; and Dale Demo; sister-in-law: Cheryl Richert;16 grandchildren;Andrea, Tonia, Brian, Jeffrey, Rachel, Ashley, Andrew, Amber,Dennis Jr., Angela, Audrey, Erick, Florisse, Regina, Nickolas, Samantha and Tiffany: 36 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
