Edward "Boz" Vidrine Obituary

MAMOU – It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Edward “Boz” Vidrine announces his passing on Friday, April 8, 2022 at the age of 79.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 2:00 PM at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou with burial to follow in the New St. Ann’s Mausoleum.  Father Billy Massie will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.

Edward “Boz” Vidrine was born on July 7, 1942 in Duralde, Louisiana to Navy and Hattie Fontenot Vidrine.  Boz’s number one priority in life was his family and they often sought out his advice and guidance as it was second to none.  He was a hard worker who took pride in every job he tackled including, farming rice and beans, operating Ortego Slaughter House, and being a certified EMT and inspector at Coushatta Casino Resort.  He believed if you were going to do something you should do it to the best your ability, and he worked hard to demonstrate and teach this while raising his children.  Boz believed strongly in his Catholic faith and was a long-time parishioner of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.  During his retirement years, he enjoyed traveling especially taking cruises with his wife.  Boz will be greatly missed by many; his memory will remain forever in their hearts.

Boz is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sherran Ortego Vidrine; four daughters, Angie Lirette and husband, Donald, Melanie Berzas and husband, Matt, Rachel Guillory and husband, Allen,  and Naomi Reed and husband, Joey; and 13 grandchildren, Daniel,  Bethany, Lauren, Hannah, Jonah, Christen, Megan, Jed, Alaina, Landon, Ansley, Myranda, and Kaleb. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his 22 great grandchildren, Jayden, Waylon, Everlee, Carter, Olivia, Avenleigh, Sawyer, Drae, Jordie, Emmi Lou, Scarlett, Roman, Carolina, Caden, Gavin, Jayce, Aidan, Hattie Jo, Jensen, Landri, Elam, and Aniston; one brother, Gary Vidrine and wife, Barbara; one sister, Jan Deshotel and husband, Ted; and sister-in-law, Beverly Vidrine.

Boz now joins in heaven his parents, Navy and Hattie Fontenot Vidrine; brothers LJ Vidrine and Rodney Vidrine; and sister, Edith Vidrine.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Sunday, April 10 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Monday, April 11 from 8:00 AM until time of service.  A rosary led by Deacon Chuck Ortego will be prayed in Boz’s honor Sunday evening at  6:00 PM.
