<p>Elmer Luther Jones Jr. was born March 14, 1943, at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara California.&nbsp; He is the son of Elmer Sr. and Charlotta Jones.&nbsp; He passed thru the veil Saturday, April 2, 2022, at the Infinity Hospice Care Facility in Las Vegas, Nevada with his son, Darby Jones, by his side.&nbsp; He succumbed to his battle with diabetes in his decision to stop all dialysis.</p> <p>Growing up Years: &nbsp;Elmer lived on Puesta Del Sol in the big blue house with his parents and brothers.&nbsp; After High School he joined the Navy for two years aboard the USS Brooke DEG1.&nbsp; Elmer Jr. worked for Santa Barbara Research Center (SBRC) and Delco Electronics.&nbsp; Elmer retired from SBRC and Delco (Hughes) after 35 years of service.&nbsp; At the end of his Delco career, he spent 3 years working all over Canada on the 25mm Gun.&nbsp; Elmer was very active in the Boy Scouts of America and highly decorated achieving the highest level as an Eagle Scout and then continued his achievements as a Boy Scout Leader and Scout Master.&nbsp; He spent a lot of time scouting locally as well as taking a scout group to the National Jamboree.&nbsp; He also trained many other adults to be Boy Scout Leaders and achieved the Wood Badge which is the most advanced training course offered by the Boy Scouts of America. &nbsp;The training course is rich in Scouting history and tradition.&nbsp; Elmer also received the Silver Beaver award which is given to those who implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self-sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service.</p> <p>Education: &nbsp;Pepperdine University, Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree, Administrative Science &rsquo;77; Santa Barbara City College, Associate of Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering &rsquo;73.</p> <p>Career:&nbsp; Electronics Technician PO 3rd Class, US Navy, USS BROOKE DEG-1, San Diego, CA (July 1965-July 1967); General Motors AC/DRL (September 1967-March 1968); Santa Barbara Research Center (SBRC), Electronics Engineer (March 1968-April 1989); Delco Systems, Senior Engineer (April 1989-April 1998); Hendry Telephone Products, Senior Compliance Engineer (March 1998-June 2002).</p> <p>Family: Elmer married Marcia Elaine Mixen in January 1966.&nbsp; They were blessed with two sons, Elmer Luther Jones III (Buellton, CA) and Richard Lee Jones (Smyrna, TN).&nbsp; In October 1972, Elmer married Judith Campbell; he adopted Judy&rsquo;s daughter, Aimee Lisette (Jones) and John Aartman (Llano, CA) and they were blessed with a son, Darby Lowell and Michelle Jones (Santa Barbara, CA).&nbsp; In May 1986 Elmer married Diane Rae Morrison whose children: Dennis and Kim Wright (Pleasant Grove, UT), Matthew Brian and Helena Morrison (Tucson, AZ), Melanie Marie Morrison and Will Herron (Brooktrails, CA), and Scott Kenneth Morrison (deceased) combined for a family of eight children.&nbsp; With this large family he was blessed with 23 grandchildren: Shannon, Cassidy, Shiloh, Phoenix, Adrean, Alex, Shelby, Cassie, Lindsey, Daniel, Serena, LisaRenee, Michalae, Chris, Darby Jr., Devin, McKenna, Walker, Weston, Maitlyn, Tryston, Corbin, Kaesyn and two great grandchildren: Amari and Isabella.&nbsp;</p> <p>Elmer is survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and brother Robert Edward Jones Sr. and a nephew and nieces.</p> <p>Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022 at 4 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 1002 Burkholder Blvd, Henderson, NV 89015.&nbsp; Visitation will be held prior from 3pm to 4pm. Elmer is being laid to rest on April 18, 2022, in the Santa Barbara Cemetery, Santa Barbara, California.&nbsp; Elmer is joining his Wife, Parents, and Brother in this cemetery.
