Richard C. Burnett, 77, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 5:53 p.m., at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 9th, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at St. James Baptist Church in Hillsboro, IL. Rev. James Hayes, Pastor of St. James Baptist Church in Hillsboro, IL will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL.

Mr. Burnett was born on March 18, 1945, in Sacramento, CA, to the late Merrell and Anna May (Cole) Burnett.  He had worked at Consolidated Coal and as a handyman.  He married Linda Boerckel, in 1985, in Hillsboro, IL and she preceded him in death. Mr. Burnett was a member of ABATE, UMWA and Hillsboro Moose Club.  He was an animal lover, collector of odd things, loved to paint yard ornaments & gnomes and was an avid motorcycle rider.

Mr. Burnett is survived by two sons, Michael Burnett of Hillsboro, IL and Kyle Burnett of Taylorville, IL.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and several brothers and sisters.
