David Leroy Fox Obituary

David Leroy Fox passed away suddenly March 22, 2022 at San Juan Regional Hospital in Farmington, New Mexico from complications due to surgery at the age of 71.

David was born to Billy Fox and Gladys Gish August 5, 1950 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He grew up and graduated high school in Colorado Springs in 1968. After graduation David joined the Army National Guard in 1971, where he was an Artillery Radioman for a period of five years and served two additional years in the reserves. He attained the rank of Sergeant prior to his separation.

He was a Colorado Springs Deputy for a few years before he hired on with Border States Electric. David made a career of Border States and retired after 20 plus years of dedicated service as an electrical consultant and sales representative.

David relocated to Farmington, New Mexico where he met the love of his life, Nancy Karlin and eventually built up the courage to ask her to marry him in 2003 and spent nearly 20 years together.

David was a very loving giving man, husband, father, genuine down to earth friend to all and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He doted on his wife Nancy and would do anything and everything for her and he once confided that he loved to see her smile and would give the shirt off his back to make it happen. He enjoyed birdwatching and tinkering in the yard during his retirement years, and it was evident when anyone went into the backyard, it was his and Nancy’s sanctuary.

He really enjoyed cooking and baking and would spend hours in the kitchen making meals, goodies, and bread from scratch. As a matter of tribute to Dave, the family all shared the last loaf of handmade bread Dave prepared prior to going into the hospital, in his honor and memory. As always, it was delicious and a testament to his baking abilities.

Dave will be sorely missed by his wife Nancy, his children, family members, friends and everyone who met him. His enthusiasm for life, selflessness, and ability to smile at any situation thrown at him will be sorely missed by all.

Dave was preceded in death by his father Billy Virgil Fox, mother Gladys Ethel Gish, sister Lynne Fox, brother Robert Fox and brother-in-law Donnie Geer.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Karlin, sons Brendan Fox, Michael Karlin and Craig Karlin. Daughters Leslie Cluff and Joy Clarke. Brothers Henry Gish and Michael Sandoval. Sisters Melody Fox, Kathryn Bennett, Lela Sandoval, Cheryl Menahan, Debbie Geer, and Julie Rasor. David is also survived by numerous grandchildren throughout both sides of the family.

A memorial of life is still being planned but will be announced as soon as final plans are made.

In lieu of donations the family has requested that trees or daffodils be planted in memory of Dave.
