It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Theresa Ryan (nee Chidley) of Chapel’s Cove, formerly of Renews announce the peaceful passing of their dearly loved and cherished mother at the age of 96.

She was predeceased by her husband Stan (1972), daughter, Clara (1958), sister, Teresita (2019), brother-in-law David Goodridge (2018), brother, Leo (1986), grandson, Patrick (1977) and son-in-law, Bob Osborne (2021).   

Leaving to mourn her loss are her seven children Barb (Bill), Gerry (Bren), Gordon (Ros), Marion (Bart), Janet (Brian), Eugene (Sue) and Paula (Bob deceased), 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a large circle of friends.

Mom enjoyed life to the fullest and her care and happiness was the constant focus of her children, especially during the past 26 years of her life where she required home care.  It was during these years that mom showed her greatest strength, determination and love of life despite many challenges.  She enjoyed a good game of cards and bingo but her greatest love was music and dance.

We, her children, are forever grateful for the wonderful care that mom received while living in her home in Chapel’s Cove with a special thank you to Judy Wall, Karen Roberts, Helen Healey and many other tremendous homecare workers.  Mom spent the last four and a half years of her life at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home and a sincere thank you to all the staff at that facility for their personal and loving care, particularly First Floor Staff, who, during those years, became Mom’s second family. 

Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 31 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Friday, April 1 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Harbour Main on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 1:00 pm with interment to follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Chapel’s Cove. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed with the link available below
