Sister Marie Crowley

Sister Marie Joseph Crowley, RSM was called home by her God on March 26, 2022 during her 64th year as a Sister of Mercy. Anne Patricia Crowley, a member of St. Anne’s Parish in Rochester, entered the Sisters of Mercy after graduating from Our Lady of Mercy HS. When receiving the habit, she was given the name, Sister Marie Joseph. Her education included Degrees from Catherine McAuley College, Nazareth and St Michael’s in Winooski, VT. Her teaching career included St. Joseph School, Penfield, Cardinal Mooney and Our Lady of Mercy HS. Other ministries included positions within the Community in Formation, Leadership and Melita House. She also ministered at Tender Loving Care Agency and Home Instead Senior Care Program.

Survived by her sister, Maureen Crowley Bushorr, her nieces Kris Luconte (Joe), Laurie Scampoli (Chris), nephew Todd Bushorr (fiancé Cassandra Ruggiero), several grand nieces, nephews, cousins and the Sisters of Mercy.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 1st, 11 AM at Mercy Center. Prior to Mass, the casket will be open in the chapel for 45 minutes. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Sisters of Mercy, 1437 Blossom Road, Rochester, NY 14610. Vaccinations are required. Masks are optional.
