Deloris Viola Bays, 87, of Flemington, WV, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the Grafton City Hospital in Grafton, WV. She was born at Rosemont, WV on June 26, 1934, a daughter of the late Lemuel McKinney Sr. and Matilda (Lang) McKinney. She married Junior Lee Bays on December 25, 1961 and after over 48 years of marriage he preceded her in death on June 15, 2010.

In addition to her parents and husband Deloris was preceded in death by seven siblings: infant Nellie McKinney, Lemuel McKinney Jr., Lloyd McKinney, Earl McKinney, Fred McKinney, Opal Reed, and Brenda Crowe.

Deloris is survived by her niece whom her and her husband opened their home and raised as their daughter, Darlene Sue McKinney of Flemington; two sisters: Geneva McCloy of Rosemont, and Mary Ann Walker of Rosemont; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Deloris was a homemaker and Pentecostal by faith. She took great pride in taking care of and keeping up her home. Deloris enjoyed watching television and movies as well as going shopping and out to eat when she was able. Family time was always very special to Deloris and she was a very loving and caring mother to Darlene. Deloris had a “heart of gold” and would do anything for anyone in need.

Family and friends will be received at the Bradley J. Mayle Funeral Home in Flemington, WV, on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 from 5 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 10am with Pastor Sylvia Simons presiding. Interment will follow at the Flemington I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
