<p><span style="font-size:26px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">Cheryl Christine Westerfield,</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:26px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">77, of Lowell, passed away March 23, 2022.&nbsp; She was born in Evanston, Illinois on March 12, 1945&nbsp;to Joseph and Madona Yonke.&nbsp; Cheryl was a 1963 graduate of Bishop Noll Institute in Hammond, Indiana. &nbsp;She began a long career at the&nbsp;Northern Trust Company in the 70&rsquo;s. &nbsp;</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:26px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">In 1985, Cheryl then decided to focus on her family with the birth of her son,&nbsp;Christopher. &nbsp;In the early 90&rsquo;s Cheryl became a CCD teacher at St. Matthias in Crown Point,&nbsp;Indiana. &nbsp;After teaching for a few years, Cheryl began following her passion and started designing jewelry&nbsp;at Troxel&nbsp;Jewelers in Merrillville, IN. &nbsp;And for the past seven&nbsp;years, she was able to do&nbsp;the one thing she loved&nbsp;most-&nbsp;be&nbsp;a grandma for her grandson.&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:26px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">Cheryl will always be remembered for being a kind and loving spirit. &nbsp;She was always willing to help&nbsp;no matter the circumstances.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:26px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, James Westerfield; their son, Chris (Jessica) Westerfield; grandchild, James S. Westerfield; her brother, Gregory Yonke; her sister, Julie Schwedel; and many nieces and nephews.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:26px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">Cheryl was preceded in death by&nbsp;her sister, Joy Gold.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:26px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">A memorial&nbsp;service will be held at&nbsp;St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church,&nbsp;101 W. Burrell Drive, Crown Point, IN 46307 on Saturday, April 9th at 10 AM.&nbsp;All friends are welcome.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:26px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">Memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA given her continuous support of the organization. &nbsp;<a href="https://www.aspca.org">https://www.aspca.org</a>&nbsp;</span></span></p>

Cheryl Christine Westerfield,

77, of Lowell, passed away March 23, 2022.  She was born in Evanston, Illinois on March 12, 1945 to Joseph and Madona Yonke.  Cheryl was a 1963 graduate of Bishop Noll Institute in Hammond, Indiana.  She began a long career at the Northern Trust Company in the 70’s.  

In 1985, Cheryl then decided to focus on her family with the birth of her son, Christopher.  In the early 90’s Cheryl became a CCD teacher at St. Matthias in Crown Point, Indiana.  After teaching for a few years, Cheryl began following her passion and started designing jewelry at Troxel Jewelers in Merrillville, IN.  And for the past seven years, she was able to do the one thing she loved most- be a grandma for her grandson. 

Cheryl will always be remembered for being a kind and loving spirit.  She was always willing to help no matter the circumstances.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, James Westerfield; their son, Chris (Jessica) Westerfield; grandchild, James S. Westerfield; her brother, Gregory Yonke; her sister, Julie Schwedel; and many nieces and nephews.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her sister, Joy Gold.

A memorial service will be held at St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church, 101 W. Burrell Drive, Crown Point, IN 46307 on Saturday, April 9th at 10 AM. All friends are welcome.
