Pollyann Matson

<p>Pollyann Bryson Matson, of Cumming, Ga., went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 26, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson&rsquo;s Disease.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>She was born in Murphy NC on April 13, 1939, Her father was the late Loy Gordon Bryson and her mother was the late Anabel Hood Bryson. She spent most of her childhood in Oak Ridge, TN. After graduating from high school, Pollyann moved with her parents to Clayton, Ga. She attended Young Harris College and Western Carolina University where she graduated with a degree in Business Administration. After college, Pollyann worked for Delta Airlines for 25 years in metro Atlanta area. Upon retiring from Delta, Pollyann was persuaded to move to Dallas TX to become the Executive Assistant to the Episcopal Bishop of Dallas, a job she loved and considered her ministry for the Lord. She served in this position for 19 years. Pollyann retired again and moved back to Georgia to be near family, leaving behind many dear friends and co-workers she called her Texas family.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Pollyann was the loving mother of two sons, Mark Gordon Matson of Cumming, Ga., and Eric</p> <p>Shane Matson of Atlanta, Ga. She was also the doting grandmother to her granddaughter Avens Caroline Matson. &nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>In addition to her sons and granddaughter, she is survived by her sister, Toni McClure (Tim) of Clayton, Ga., her niece, Casey Kissel and two great nieces, Grace and Anabel of Dacula, Ga.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>During her years in the Atlanta area, Pollyann was very active in the Episcopal Church&rsquo;s Cursillo Movement. She served locally on many teams and as team leader. She served on the Atlanta Episcopal Cursillo Community governing body. She was active in Ultreya and Group Reunion. In the Southeast District Pollyann served on several Episcopal Cursillo Leadership Workshop teams. On a national level she served as the SE district representative on the national governing board.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>She was an avid reader, often reading three or four books a week, a habit that continued until her death.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>A graveside will be held on at 1:00pm April 1, 2022 at the Roane Cemetery in Tiger, Ga., with Rev. Joey Thompson officiating. A memorial service will be held on April 10 at 2:00pm at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Cumming, Ga.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>In lieu of flowers a contribution may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, 724 Pilgrim Mill Rd, Cumming, GA 30040 or to the Parkinson&rsquo;s Foundation, P.
