<p>Nancy Ann &ldquo;Ninny&rdquo; Garner, 91, of Charleston, Illinois formerly of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at her residence in Charleston, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday, March 28, 2022, at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Humane Society of the United States, 1255 23rd Street, NW, Suite 450, Washington, DC 20037.</p> <p>Nancy was born August 27, 1930, in Cherokee, Oklahoma the daughter of Howard and Pauline &ldquo;Polly&rdquo; (Hermes) Baird. She is survived by her four daughters, Kati Garner of Sacramento, California, Celia (Bob) Adams of Charleston, Illinois, Leslie Garner of Charleston, Illinois, and Karen (Nate) Woods of La Marque, Texas; two granddaughters, Brooke Groff of Charleston, Illinois and Sydney Adams (Fianc&eacute; Tyler Sibigtroth) of Charleston, Illinois; two grandsons, Taylor (Dani) Parris and Joshua Parris both of Lititz, Pennsylvania; five great grandchildren, Carson&nbsp;Groff, Luke Keller, Grace Sibigtroth, Nora Sibigtroth, and Emilia Parris; and very special niece, Susan Dively of Brownstown, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Baird.</p> <p>Nancy graduated from St. Elmo High School. She obtained a master&rsquo;s degree in education from Eastern Illinois University. Nancy was a beloved teacher and shared her love of learning with her students and peers at Jefferson Elementary in Charleston, Illinois until retirement in 1994. She was a proud member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association. Nancy also attended Clown School and became &ldquo;Frisbee the Clown,&rdquo; she used her talents to spread joy to people of all ages. She loved dogs, and even included George the dog in her clown acts. Nancy enjoyed traveling, lunch dates with her girlfriends, and a good glass of wine. She also enjoyed the game of dominos. She loved her family dearly and cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
