Jon Stanley

Jon Stanley, 80 years old, passed away at his home in San Marcos, California on March 18, 2022. He was surrounded by his family.

Jon was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1941 and went on to call many cities in the United States home throughout his life, including Van Nuys, California, Cleveland, Ohio, Valparaiso, Indiana, Tampa, Florida, and most recently San Marcos, California. Jon had a big heart and lived his life showing love, compassion and caring to all who crossed his path. He was unconditional in his love and generous in his kindness.  His passion was being present for his family and working to ensure their happiness. Jon was a truly one-of-a-kind man who loved the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” and sincerely believed those words. His family was everything to him, and he loved his life. He will be missed terribly and remembered dearly by all that had the good fortune to know him.

Jon’s memory will be cherished by Shirley Stanley, his loving wife of 34 years; his children, Amanda Palmer, Karla Gorham, Ryan Stanley, and Cody Stanley; his grandchildren, John Gorham, Luke Gorham, Brianna Palmer and Aidan Palmer; his brother, Barry Smedberg; his sister, Diane Horne; and the many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and family who he loved dearly in his life.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 25th from 10:30am to 1:30pm at Allen Brothers Mortuary (435 N Twin Oaks Valley Rd, San Marcos, CA 92069) followed by a short graveside service at 2:00pm at San Marcos Cemetery (1021 Mulberry Dr, San Marcos, CA 92069). All guests are then invited for a celebration of Jon’s life at his home in San Marcos following the service.
