Robert "Bob" Edward Rupp Obituary

Robert “Bob” Edward Rupp passed to his eternal rest on March 17, 2022. He was born September 18, 1943, in Lewistown, PA to the late Blaine Ivan and Anne Veronica (Clark) Rupp.

He grew up in Lewistown, PA, and was the second youngest of eight siblings. He served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne and was an instructor and expert marksman. He met his beloved wife Viola Jean “Jeannie” Houtz while working at the PA Liquor Control Board in Harrisburg, PA. They were married in September 1965. He became employed by AT&T, and they moved to Falls Church, VA and then White Plains, MD. He held various positions with AT&T over the course of 30+ years and retired early as a Real Estate Manager. He devoted much of his time to being Sacristan at Sacred Heart Church, La Plata, MD, after the 1993 death of his Jeannie. He was also a cantor, lector and all-around knowledge guy who kept the wheels turning at Sacred Heart. He enjoyed witty banter, jokes, puns, and anything that would make others smile, laugh, and even groan a little.

Robert is survived by his son, Brian Edward Rupp (Gwendolyn) of Damascus, MD; his daughter, Jennifer Eileen Rupp of White Plains, MD; his grandson Justin Michael Rupp (Jessica); and his great-grandchildren Lillian and Rachel Rupp.

Visitation/Viewing will be Monday, March 28, 2022, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, 211 St. Mary’s Avenue, La Plata MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary’s Avenue, La Plata MD.
