We regret to announce the heavenly transition from earth to glory of Mother Areatha Ford, 84, of Moncks Corner, SC who heard God's voice and left this world behind to receive her just reward early Wednesday morning, March 16, 2022 at 8:11 AM at her residence. Mother Ford was the loving mother of Eartharine (Louie) Willis, Stephanie (Andrew) Williams, Sylvia (Al) Smith & Shaun (Tinisha) Ford.

Due to Covid-19 the family will not receive visitors at their home but immediate family members only. Family members are asked to please wear a face masks at all times while at the residence. The Ford family thank you for your prayers and understanding during this difficult time.

 

LIFE REFLECTIONS OF AREATHA FORD

One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquirer in his temple. Psalm 27:4

 

AREATHA WALKER FORD, daughter of the late Simon and Geneva Walker was born on June 22, 1937. She was born and grew up in the Sheep Island community of Summerville, SC. She entered eternal rest on March 16, 2022, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Peachie and Louie Willis, Sr.

She was educated in the Berkeley County School System. She worked for many years at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston, SC until her retirement.

Areatha served faithfully on the Usher Board at New Macedonia Community Church until her health declined. Areatha loved gardening and cooking, where her red rice was her signature dish in the community. She was always considered a loving, kind, and caring person who enjoyed helping people.

Areatha was joined in holy matrimony on May 16, 1959, to the late Elder Herbert Ford, Sr.

Loved ones that preceded Areatha to her death are her loving husband, Elder Herbert Ford, Sr.; her son, Herbert Ford, Jr.; one grandson, and five brothers: Otha, Eddie, Laurie, Jerry, and S.T. Walker, Sr.

Those left to cherish Areatha’s memories are her children: Peachie (Louie) Willis, Stephanie (Andrew) Williams of Moncks Corner, SC, Sylvia (Al) Smith of Summerville, SC, and Shaun (Tinisha) Ford of Atlanta, GA; 14 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; one brother, Odell (Bernice) Walker of Summerville, SC.; three sisters-in-law: Ida Mae Walker, Jessie Mae (William) Steward of Summerville, SC and Earlean Moore of North, SC; one brother-in-law, Frank Ford, Jr. of North Charleston, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
  

Life Celebration and Home Going Services for Mother Areatha Ford will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM at New Macedonia Community Church, 1581 Haney Branch Rd. Summerville, SC 29483 (Sheep Island)

Mother Ford will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.  There will be NO viewing at the end of the service.  Services WILL NOT BE LIVE STREAM per the family request. 

Interment: New Macedonia Community Church Cemetery
