Ronnie Carroll Harmon was born December 13, 1941, 6 days after Pearl Harbor. He is the son of Rezetta Gregory and Jay A "Tip" Harmon. He was raised by his grandparents, Bessie Carrie Bowman and Albert Alexander Gregory. Ronnie worked as a technician for Magnavox before moving to Parkersburg to join his father's business, Harmon's Cabinet Shop. Ron owned the shop from 1983 to its closure in 2004. He was active in his community through Emergency Services, Civil Air Patrol and the Performing Arts. In Civil Air Patrol, he gained the rank of Lt Colonel, the second highest rank for a Senior. He was the recipient of National Senior Member of the Year in the 1980's. He started as a cadet during the late 50's. He trained people for decades in Search and Rescue, held many state and local level positions. He was instrumental in the renovation of several CAP facilities, including the current CAP local headquarters at Yeager Airport. For the Performing Arts, Ron worked for the renovation and the maintenance of all three main performing stages in the Mid Ohio Valley. The Smoot Theater, MOVP and the Actors Guild. He served as grounds for Mid Ohio Valley Players and the Actors Guild of Parkersburg and served as President, Vice President and Treasurer at various points for both community theaters He began his theater career with MOVP's production of Carousel, designing and building the set as well as performing as The Star Keeper. Over 28 years, Ron has received many awards and recognition for his volunteerism and for his excellence in set and lighting designs. He also taught technical theater at workshops for OCTA. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Billie Kin Burkey Harmon and three children, Lisa, Jerry (Pam) and Alan (Tammy) as well as his grandchildren, Jerri Lynn and Evan Harmon, Joshua, Kacy and Kayla Harmon, and several great-grandchildren, one brother, Gary K Harmon and one sister, Jennifer Kirkpatrick. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bessie and Albert Lee Gregory, his parents and one brother, Randy Corby. Memorial services will be February 12, 2017, Sunday at 2:30 at the Mid Ohio Valley Players Theater.
