Ledwin A. Batista Rodriguez

Ledwin Batista, beloved father, son, brother, and friend died on Wednesday at his home in Matawan, NJ. He was 49 years old.

 When Ledwin immigrated to Perth Amboy, NJ, in 1983, he brought along a love of nature and community that is the hallmark of his native city of La Vega, Dominican Republic. As a child, he was known as a loveable rascal whose adventurous spirit would often lead him to mischief. He was a dreamer whose insatiable curiosity dared him to take risks both large and small throughout his life.

 Ledwin would spend most of his adulthood traveling across Western Europe and Latin America. His passion for people and food served him well during his travels as he would go on to forge lifelong friendships with people across the globe. Regardless of where he was or whom he was with, Ledwin stayed true to his Dominican values of hospitality and communion. Through home-cooked meals and laughter, he made others feel like extended members of the family rather than strangers.

 Throughout his life, Ledwin was passionate about nature and wildlife. He felt most at home taking in the fresh air of the countryside. Though he spent many years living in Northern New Jersey, he never lost his love for his native Dominican Republic and would speak glowingly about the peace he felt taking in the warm ocean waters of his homeland.

 He is remembered by his 7 children for his effortless charm, love for animals, adventurous spirit, and youthful exuberance for life. His jovial personality made him especially popular among children, including his 3 grandchildren.

 Ledwin is survived by his daughters, Rebecca, Natasha, Ashlley Mar, Leticia, and Mia Batista; his sons, Ledwin Batista Jr. and Ledwin Ramon Batista; his grandchildren, Jordan, Mia, and Rowan; and his parents, Jose Francisco Batista and Ramona Rodriguez.

 Visitation will be on Monday, March 14, 2022, from 9 AM to 11 AM at Ana Maria Zevallos/Skrocki Home for Funerals, 467 State Street, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.

Burial will take place in Forest Green Park Cemetery, Marlboro, NJ.

 All visitors must wear a face covering and adhere to social distancing rules at all times. We are asking visitors to limit their time in the funeral home to allow the family the maximum amount of guests possible.
