Barbara Jean Marfell
<p>Barbara Jean (Holmes) Marfell, 81, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 6:09 p.m. at her residence. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Event Center of Montgomery County in Hillsboro, IL. Cremation rites were accorded and burial will be in Camp Butler Cemetery in Springfield, IL.</p> <p>Ms. Marfell was born on January 28, 1941 in Pana, IL to the late Pat and Dorothy (Briegel) Holmes. She worked as the Director of Business Development at Alton Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau in Alton, IL. She married Allen Edward Marfell on September 15, 1958 in Witt, IL; he preceded on August 12, 2019. She lived in the Hillsboro, IL area during her lifetime. She was a member of Business and Professional Women, the Witt Lioness’, and Republican Women. She was a crafty person and she loved sewing, quilting, and gardening.</p> <p>Ms. Marfell is survived by her children, Julie Marfell-Konopka of Lexington, KY; Bob Marfell (wife Jeannie) of Springfield, IL; Suzie (husband Craig) Myers of Beardstown, IL; and Michael (wife Kara) Marfell of St. Louis, MO; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and her sister Diana Homes of Hillsboro, IL.</p> <p>Ms. Marfell is preceded by her parents, her husband, one brother, and son-in-law, Steve Konopka.</p> <p>Memorials may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.</p>Obituary
