Evangelista “Eva” Rivera, age 92 of Ansonia, CT, beloved wife of the late Jorge Luis Rivera, died peacefully on March 9, 2022, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico on December 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Ramon and Angelita Ayala Colon. Mrs. Rivera settled in the Bronx, NY as a teenager and remained there until moving to Tampa, FL in 2007. She enjoyed Tampa for seven years, until moving to Ansonia, CT in 2014 to reside with her family. She enjoyed scrap booking, arts and crafts, but will be long remembered as a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Ada (Jorge) Rodriguez of Ansonia, Vivian Gerena of Southington and Edna Rivera of Houston, TX; a sister, Gloria Pacheco of Tampa, FL; brothers, Tony Colon of Bronx, NY, Robert (Margarita) Colon and Oscar Colon, all of Tampa, FL; cherished grandchildren, Krystle (Jimmy) LaManna of Norwalk, Alyssa Rodriguez, Bronx, NY, Stephanie Gerena of SC, Erin Gerena of Southington, Joseph (Anne) Salonia and Michael Salonia, all of Dallas, TX; adored great-grandchildren, Isabella LaManna, Evie Peterson, Lorenzo Cosimo Salonia and another angel on it’s way. In addition to her husband of 34 years, she was predeceased by a sister, Haydee Cleary and brothers, Rafael, Jose, James and Ramon Colon, Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial (MEETING DIRECTLY AT CHURCH) will be celebrated in Holy Cross Church, 600 Soundview Avenue, Bronx, NY on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 9:30 AM.
