Myrlin Robert Medearis Obituary

This is our Dad, Bob Medearis. He was the most genuine and friendliest man you could ever meet. Everyone knew him mostly as Uncle Bob or just Grandpa. Whether at church or on the jobsite or in his personal life. He would usually greet you with a donut or a drink. Food was love and he shared with everyone.

He always had a joke to share or a handshake or a hug. He could not have been more fair or honest or kind in everything he did. He built over 80 hotels in his career and was doing it until the very end. He loved the Lord and went about spreading the Gospel with his Christlike love to EVERYONE he encountered.

His last moments were spent walking up to the stand at church to say the opening prayer for Sacrament Meeting. He wanted to go up a few minutes before it started “since he moved a bit slow” he told Ling. He sat there a few minutes and without any notice, closed his eyes and went through the veil. When it was time to start, someone politely gave him a nudge and then another. His Grandson, Jared, was there and saw something wasn’t right and ran up to help. Church was quickly canceled, they worked on him for 40 minutes, and then called it. There was never a child that didn’t love him, and his last gift was giving 3 wards full of children a day off from church.

He is survived by his wife Darlene “Ling” Everson Medearis, who he has been married to for over 55 years. His daughters Carrie Tomseth (m. Larry Tomseth), Debbie Shadel (m. Michael Shadel) and Lorrie Doyle (m. Michael Doyle). Also, 13 Grandchildren and 33 Great Grandchildren.

We all got everything we needed from him. Every hug and kiss, every conversation, every single moment, every laugh, every bit of love. We love you, Dad. See you later Pot Licker!!!
