Donald C. "Don" Ryan

<p>Donald C. &ldquo;Don&rdquo; Ryan, 90, of Petrolia, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Sunday morning, March 6, 2022 at his residence.</p> <p>Donald was born in Butler on January 30, 1932.&nbsp; He was the son of the late Francis B. and Mary Irene Angert Ryan.</p> <p>Donald was of the Catholic faith and was baptized at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in North Oakland.&nbsp; Don served in the Pennsylvania and U.S. National Guard and was called to active duty during the Korean War, having served in Germany.</p> <p>In his earlier years, Don enjoyed hunting and fishing and later, woodworking.&nbsp; He was the longtime owner of Ryan&rsquo;s Garage in Karns City and operated the garage for more than 40 years.</p> <p>Don is survived by his children, Lawrence E. &ldquo;Larry&rdquo; Ryan and his wife, Susan, of Beaver Falls, Russell J. Ryan and his wife, Cathy, of Petrolia, Janice C. Hilderbrand and her husband, Larry, of Fenelton, and Kenneth E. Ryan and his wife, Carol Sue, of Karns City; a daughter-in-law, Karen L. Ryan of Karns City; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; a brother, Regis L. Ryan and his wife, Mary, of Lincoln, NE; two sisters, Rosemary Wagner of Butler and Mary Jane Crawford of North Ft. Myers, FL, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.</p> <p>In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Theodore W. &ldquo;Ted&rdquo; Ryan, and a number of brothers.</p> <p><strong>Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.&nbsp; A service outside of mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home with the Rev. Matt McClain, pastor of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, officiating. &nbsp;Miltary honors will be accorded by the Chicora and Brady&rsquo;s Bend American Legion Posts. &nbsp;Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, The Village of North Oakland.&nbsp; Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.</strong></p>

Donald C. “Don” Ryan, 90, of Petrolia, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Sunday morning, March 6, 2022 at his residence.

Donald was born in Butler on January 30, 1932.  He was the son of the late Francis B. and Mary Irene Angert Ryan.

Donald was of the Catholic faith and was baptized at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in North Oakland.  Don served in the Pennsylvania and U.S. National Guard and was called to active duty during the Korean War, having served in Germany.
