<p>Edward Earnest Holcomb, 89, of Hillsboro, Illinois, passed away peacefully in his home with loved ones on March 3, 2022.</p> <p>&nbsp;Edward was born on June 28, 1932, to Frances Norvell and Earnest Holcomb. On March 15, 1952, Edward married Marian Stone. He is rejoining her now and has always wanted to since she left us. He always said she made his life wonderful. Edward and Marian went on to have one child, Donna. He was a loving father-figure to many. Donna knows how lucky she was that he was hers.</p> <p>&nbsp;Edward was a hard-working farmer and ran a newsstand with Marian in Hillsboro, Illinois. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, handicapping horses, savoring sweets and coffee, teasing and making his grandkids laugh, playing cards with friends at the Moose Lodge, and going on long country drives.</p> <p>&nbsp;Edward was predeceased by his mother, Frances Norvell, father, Earnest Holcomb, and wife, Marian Holcomb. He is survived by his daughter, Donna (Jerry) Ekiss, granddaughters, Susanne (Graham) Osmonson and Dana (Matt) Huff, and four great-grandchildren, all of Springfield, Illinois. He was a very proud grandfather. He is also survived by his two brothers, Bruce and Joe (Maria Teresa) Holcomb, and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.</p> <p>&nbsp;A private graveside service at Wares Grove Cemetery will take place, per his wishes. Those who wish to express sympathy may make a donation to the Hillsboro Moose Lodge #1377 in Edward Holcomb&rsquo;s name.&nbsp;</p>
