Dr. Staci Jo Garvin EdD

Dr. Staci Jo Garvin EdD, 45, of Bartlett, IL passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 1:22 p.m. at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL.

Ms. Garvin was born November 2, 1976 in Hillsboro, IL to Tom and Patty (Stinson) Garvin. She was a 1994 graduate of Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, IL and received her BA and MA at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. She received her Doctorate at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. She married Tom DeCoste on May 28, 2011 in Elmhurst, IL; he survives in Bartlett, IL.  She was raised in Hillsboro, IL and later moved to Chicago, IL. She was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan. She loved to read and travel. Teaching was her passion and she kept learning in order to teach others.

Ms. Garvin is survived by her husband, Tom; her parents; her furbaby, Hurley DeGarvin; her sister, Bridget (husband Kevin) White of Hillsboro, IL; niece and nephews, Carter White, Lyla DeCoste, and Colin DeCoste; her mother-in-law, Phyllis DeCoste; her sister-in-law, Sheri DeCoste; and her brother-in-law, Jeff (wife Christine) DeCoste.

Memorials may be given to the Hillsboro Education Foundation.
