Richard DeMar Gadd

Richard DeMar Gadd was born May 30, 1938 in Nephi, Utah to Donald Floyd and Lucille Allred Gadd.

From an early age, he loved being in the outdoors. He worked for his Grandfather Allred herding sheep every summer until he graduated from Juab High School in 1956. At Juab High, he excelled at sports. He played basketball and was rumored to have a mean left hook while boxing. He enjoyed leather work and made belts for his sons and purses and wallets for others. He had a very special bond with his only daughter Debbie. They had a close and loving relationship. He loved riding and owning horses and was in the Nephi riding club for many years. He was also Grand Marshall of the Ute Stampede Western Parade in 1994.  He was an avid hunter and never missed a deer hunt with his sons and grandsons. He had many friends with whom he enjoyed four wheeling and snowmobiling. He was a devoted son who took care of his mother and mother-in-law for many years.

He married Lucille Christensen on July 6, 1956 in the Manti LDS Temple. They had four children Russell, Rick, Debra and Vance. He was a very patient and good natured husband, father and grandfather. The annual Easter camping trip was a highlight for his grandchildren for many years.

He worked for Pexton Wholesale for 33 years then Midstate Consultants for 8 years. He retired at 59 and enjoyed several years of fun before a health issue in 2010 changed his life.

He passed away peacefully at his home on February 27, 2022 surrounded by his loving wife and many family members. He was preceded in death by his son Russell DeMar Gadd. He is survived by his wife, children Rick (Lori), Debra (Duane), Vance (Robin), 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and sisters Dawn (James) Allred and  Anita (Gedge) Oliver.

Services will be held Friday, March 4, at the Nephi North Stake Center, 1125 North 400 East, Nephi, Utah at 11:00. Viewing held Thursday from 6:00-8:00 at the Anderson Mortuary, 94 West 300 North, Nephi, Utah as well as 1 hour prior to services at the Nephi North Stake Center. Interment at Vine Bluff Cemetery.
