Obituary

~ Bill Allen Planchon ~

Bill Allen Planchon, 68, of Menifee, California, passed away on February 10, 2022.
On December 26, 1953, Bill was born to Betty F. Wright and Donald L. Rush in Newport Beach,
California. Bill and his identical twin brother, Ben, were the first twins born at Hoag Hospital,
Newport Beach, California.

In 1968 at age 15, Bill met his high school sweetheart Carol. Bill had a calling to enlist in the
U.S. Navy in 1970 at age 17 to join the fight in the Vietnam War. At this time, he discovered his
love for airplanes and became a jet engine mechanic then a flight engineer on the P3 Orion.
Upon his return and fulfilling a promise made between two determined sweethearts, Bill and
Carol married in 1974, having three children; Carl, Ashley, and Benjamin.

At the rank of E-5, Bill received his honorable discharge from the United States Navy to pursue
his commercial airline career for over 40 years. He continued his passion by flying those within
the VIP world upon retirement. A notable accomplishment and honor for him was flying the
Jonas Brothers during their Happiness Begins Tour.

Bill's passion for flying overflowed to everyone that crossed his path - be it young or old -
knowing it or not at the time, you were going to get a lesson on the ground or in the air.
However, Bill understood when to take time and enjoy the things like bowling, oldies music, his
family and friends, tinkering on various projects, and depending on the season at the river or
desert.

Bill is survived by his wife, Carol of Menifee, CA; his son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Kayla
Planchon of Murrieta, CA; his daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Sean Richardson of Menifee,
CA; and son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin and Anastessia Planchon of Menifee, CA; six
grandchildren; Courtney, Conner, Cameron, Jaxson, Uriah, and Elijah. Siblings include Jack
Wright of Oakhurst, CA; identical twin brother and best friend Ben Planchon of Menifee, CA;
and younger sister Susan Ancell of Weatherford, TX.

Bill is preceded in death by his father, Donald Rush (1994), and oldest sister Sharron Ackles
(2015).

Services for Bill will be held at Riverside National Cemetery 22495 Van Buren Blvd. Riverside,
CA 92518 on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 12:45p.m. In place of flowers, donations to Tunnel to
Towers, an organization Bill felt strongly about, will carry on his honor, duty, and service
legacy.

Eventually, Angels fly at a higher altitude.
