Douglas- Betty Jean (Johnson) Garcelon, 72, of Deerfield Dr. in Webster, formerly of Douglas and Nashua, NH passed away peacefully on Tues. Feb. 10, 2022. Her children were by her side.

     She is survived by her daughter Heather Garcelon of Moore, SC; her son Sean M. Garcelon of Webster; a grandson Tyler Shane Parnell in S. Carolina; 5 sisters Beth Boutiette and her husband Paul of Douglas, Susan Blum of W. Boylston, Verna Harding and her husband Vaughn of Hyannis, Veryll Fulone and her husband Daniel of Douglas, and Colleen Prue and her husband Roger of S. Carolina; her brother Everett “Sonny” Johnson Jr. and his wife Kathy of Douglas; a sister-in-law Karen Johnson; many nieces, nephews, friends, good neighbors, and her cat Abbey. She was sister of the late Carol Mitsin, Otis Taylor Johnson, and Frederick Bethel Johnson. Born in Whitinsville, MA on March 17, 1949 she was the daughter of Everett Sr. and Mildred (Bethel) Johnson, was raised in Douglas and lived in Webster the past 3 years. Previously she lived in Nashua 30 years.

     Betty worked in medical billing many years at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua. She also taught art and Tole painting and worked as an artist for Vallaincourt Folk Art. She worked for the Webster School’s Cafeteria, the Bernat Yarn Co. and the Fabric Store at the Schuster Woolen Mill as well. A skilled seamstress, she loved gardening and painting and doing crafts with the kids in her family. She was a 1967 graduate of Douglas Memorial High School and attended Art School.

     Perpetually smiling, Betty loved helping others, family gatherings, and the holidays. Always up for anything, she was adventuresome and even rode motorcycles! 

     She will be remembered for putting others ahead of herself and for her love of family.

     Her Funeral Service will be held Tues. Feb. 15 at 6 pm in Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St. Douglas. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tues. Feb 15 from 4 to 6 pm.
