Chen-Fu Yu

<p><strong><span style="font-size:22px;">On Sunday, February 6, 2022, Dr. Chen-Fu Yu, aged 78 of Clarksville, Maryland passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side. He was born in 1943 to Mr. Shi-Min Yu and Mrs. Chen-Mei Lin in the town of Fugang, Taiwan. While he came from a small town, his dreams brought him to places throughout the US and the world, including an Applied Mathematics PhD from Brown University in Rhode Island, a professorship at University of California Los Angeles, a nuclear engineering job at Siemens in Germany, and finally fatherhood in Howard County, Maryland. </span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:22px;">Dr. Yu had an impassioned mind and spirit as he enjoyed churchgoing, backgammon, nature, and the night sky. </span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:22px;">He was a member of the Chinese Bible Church of Howard County. He was a loving Christian, brother, friend, husband, and father.</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:22px;">He is survived by his wife Mrs. Lau Kwai Yu, his daughter Dr. Katherine Yu, his sisters Mrs. Ju-Mei Yu and Mrs. Man-Mei Yu, and his brothers Mr. Chen-Lu Yu, Mr. Chen-Gwei Yu, and Mr. Chen-Qing Yu. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and his sister Mrs. Shu-Mei Yu. </span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:22px;">Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a Funeral service at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 11, 2022 at&nbsp;Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, 12540 Clarksville Pike, MD, 21029. </span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:22px;">To watch the recording of the Funeral Service please click <a href="https://my.gather.app/remember/chen-fu-yu">HERE</a>.</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:22px;">Memorial donations may be made to <a href="https://gofund.me/54cabd14">https://gofund.me/54cabd14</a>.</span></strong></p>

Chen was a backgammon friend and tough competitor at our DC area tournaments and events. I enjoyed discussing strategies of the game, world events and life in general with him. Chen was an insightful, brilliant and quite often, humorous man.
