Gerald Eugene Houpt

Gerald Eugene “Jerry” Houpt, 74, of Funkstown, MD, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Doey’s House. Born May 25, 1947 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Russell Eugene and Margaret “Pinky” (Cronise) Houpt. Jerry graduated from Boonsboro High School with the class of 1965. He retired as a sewing machine mechanic after working many years for London Fog, Hartz & Company, and English American. He loved being in his shop, making crafts and wood working. He also enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara Houpt; three daughters, Sherry McCarthy and husband, Keith, Deborah Cline and husband, David, and Michelle Keller and husband, Chuck; one son, Jerry “Buddy” Houpt and wife, Ruthann; grandchildren, Korey, Jessi, Logan, Connor, Zack, Caitlyn, Lily, Colton, and Amelia; two sisters, Bonnie Pereschuk and husband, Cliff and Linda Barney and husband, Dale; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, February 12, 2022, with Captain Jimmy Taylor officiating, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
