UPDATED INFORMATION: MEMORIAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 AM SATURDAY, MARCH 12, 2022 AT BEDFORD CHRISTIAN CHURCH. VISITATION WILL BE FROM 10:00 AM UNTIL TIME OF SERVICES. DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, THERE WILL NOT BE A FUNERAL SERVICE ON THURSDAY FOR MR. RAND. VISITATION WILL STILL BE HELD WEDNESDAY EVENING. NO SERVICE WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY. A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE PLANNED FOR A LATER DATE AND WILL BE ANNOUNCED. Reggie Rand, age 86, of Milton, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at his residence. Born May 19, 1935 in Bedford, Kentucky, he was the son of John W. and Sarah (Bray) Rand. Reggie was a proud local farm leader and a devoted father and grandfather. A 1953 graduate of Trimble County High School, he was a member of the Future Farmers of America and enjoyed being an alum of that organization. In 1958 he bought his family farm, Rand Angus Farms, where he perfected his Angus Cattle operation. He was a founding member of the Trimble County Cattlemen’s Association, culminating in his induction into the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Hall of Fame in 2019. He was the first in the area to implement no-till planting, an early adopter of soil and water conservation practices, a pioneer in the region in developing superior genetics in his Angus herd, and he helped found the 4-H livestock show and auction. Throughout his life, Reggie always had great pride in being the steward of his land and most enjoyed sharing his knowledge with anyone who asked. Reggie was elected to the board of directors of Farmers Bank of Milton in January 1975. He was the second longest tenured member and served as chairman of the Audit Committee. He also was owner of Rand Insurance and Real Estate in Bedford. He held memberships in the Bedford Christian Church and was a life-long Democrat, having served as a delegate to the 1988 Democratic National Convention. He cherished his family and cooked chili or hamburgers for them every Sunday for more than 20 years. Survivors include two daughters: Regina Rand of Bedford, and Susan Rand of Milton; two sons: Rick Rand and his wife, Vicky of Bedford, and Todd Rand and his wife, Paula of Milton, Kentucky; one sister: Carolyn Rand of Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dr. B.O. “Bud” Rand. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Future Farmers of America at Trimble County High School, Bedford.
