Raymond A. Ellingson

ELLINGSON, Raymond A. – of Clio, age 70, went peacefully home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at SS. Charles and Helena Catholic Church – 230 E. Vienna St., in Clio. Officiating the Mass, Most Rev. Earl Boyea, Bishop of the Diocese of Lansing, Rev. Fr. Kenneth Coughlin, the Homilest, joined by other Priests and Deacons of the Diocese. The family will receive visitors at the church on Monday from 2PM until 8PM, and on Tuesday from 10AM until the time of Mass at 11AM. A Rosary will be prayed by Rev. Denis Spitzley, at 7PM, Monday evening at the church. Interment will be held in Montrose Township Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of America, SS. Charles and Helena Catholic Church, or Cancer Research. Ray was born June 2, 1951, in Rugby, North Dakota, to the late Albert and Dorthy (Arney) Ellingson. He graduated from Clio High School in 1969, and attended Mott Community College, Northern Michigan University, and the University of Michigan – Flint. Ray married Brenda Read at Faith United Methodist Church in Mt. Morris on July 8, 1972. He later went on to study Diaconate Formation at Siena Heights University to become a Deacon and graduated on May 21, 2011. He loved being a Deacon serving SS. Charles and Helena Catholic Church over the last 10 years. Ray was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus, and took great pride being actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America for 40 years. He enjoyed playing music, working in the yard, tinkering on small engines, solving puzzles, and reading books. Ray loved traveling and taking his wife to Disney. He was known for being quite the jokester and could always make you laugh. Above all, Ray loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Surviving are: Loving wife, Brenda Ellingson; Sons: David (Amber) Ellingson, Michael Ellingson, and Scott (Teresa) Ellingson; Grandchildren: Annabelle, Jude, and Bayleigh; Many loving unofficial grandchildren they cared for over the years; Other special nieces, nephews, other loving family members and dear friends.
